Canvas, Balloons, Arrows, Bow

For my performance art piece I wanted to make something that was meaningful to me. When I was little my dad and I learned how to shoot bows together and has been apart of my life ever since. My friend and I set up a target that held a canvas with black balloons for us to shoot at. The balloons were filled with paint and water that would cause the balloons to explode on impact with the arrows. The balloons were black to create an element of surprise when the arrow would break it open. The explosion caused the paint to drip and splatter onto the canvas that was holding the balloons with safety pins. There were twelve balloons on each canvas and proved to be a challenge to pop all the balloons with the arrows. It was a fun and creative way to practice my bow and arrow skills too and will help me in the future. After the arrows have been pulled out of the canvas it left behind tears and holes in the canvas that adds character to the canvas. It shows all the shots we took to break open the twelve balloons and how challenging it actual was. We stood at a variety of distances ranging from 15 feet to 45 feet, creating more of a challenge and fun game between my friend and I.
